Welcome to Our Class Webpage!

Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am so excited about having your child in my class this year!!!  I have a lot of fun hands-on learning opportunities planned to ensure that your child has the best First Grade experience possible.  With that being said, there are several things that you need to know about my class.
First, my name is Crystal Holt, and I have been teaching since the 2004-2005 school year.  I have a Masters of Education degree in Early Childhood Education.  I have one son, who just turned 5 years old.  I always knew I would be a teacher…I love kids and teaching.
Secondly, every day, your child will bring home a “Daily Folder”.  NO pages are to be removed from this folder, unless they are located in the back pocket labeled “Keep at Home”.  This daily work should be reviewed with your child each night.  Your child will have daily homework, which will be located in the front pocket, except on Fridays.  This homework is to be completed by the child and returned to school the next day.  This homework will not be tedious and will only serve the purpose of practicing skills learned at school.  If you need me to know something or would like to ask a question, please write it in on the appropriate day of the behavior chart, and I will respond as soon as possible.
Please keep in mind that this website will be updated weekly to reflect current sight word lists, spelling words, math facts, study guides for all subjects, and testing dates.  You can also use the email cholt@miller.k12.ga.us to contact me at anytime.  I will respond as soon as possible.
Each child will receive free breakfast and lunch this year! However, First Grade will have regular snack time each mid-afternoon.  It would be a great idea to send a light snack with your child each day.  Please be aware of a leaky thermos.  They will ruin book bags and everything in them!  I suggest sending a juice pouch with a straw.  No canned drinks are allowed.
Finally, I would LOVE for you to come and visit any time that you can.  You are more than welcome to stop by and read us a good book, tell us a funny story, or teach us a new song.  The kids will love it, and I will too!  It is going to take your help and reinforcement at home, as well as my all at school, in order to get your child prepared for second grade.  I make a vow to you to do everything in my power to make a positive difference in the life of your child!  Please feel free to contact me any time during school hours at 229-758-4140.
                                                           Thanks Again,
                                         Crystal Holt, First Grade Teacher
